you won't ever be the same again...

I've just lost 1,000 words.

I'd cry, only I'm currently thanking all things that are holy that I backed it up earlier and didn't lose more. Never trust a USB memory stick people. Learn from my amateurish mistakes.

It was all drivel, naturally... but still.

    I've been using Google Docs which means I'm able to add to my pathetic word count from any computer with an internet connection.

    It also autosaves, but has a revisions tab so that I can go back and see what I've added (or deleted).

    Tres Cool.

    Shit word count for me so far... and a rubbish story!!

    I wrote a little over 2,000 words my first night only to lose them in a file transfer. I had to start all over. But my novel is better for it, so it worked out.

    Ok - some frenzied typing over my breakfast (a bagel, an -english- muffin and a cup of tea) and we're back where we were when I lost it.

    It's still drivel, you'll be pleased to hear.

    Co-incidentally, I have spent a lot of time this afternoon writing an arduous report and our server went down about an hour ago so rather an unhappy proportion of it has disappeared. Of course, had I read the email saying the server was going down, this could have been avoided...

    Isn't the point to write 50,000 words rather than retain them? You could just count them anyway, you know they existed.
