no no limits....

“You will never know your limits until you push yourself to them”

There is a very real temptation - not just for people with multiple sclerosis, but for anyone - to define themselves by what they can't do.   I know I'm relatively lucky with how MS has affected me so far, but I still assumed I would never be able to run a marathon and that my body would blow up during training.... and I proved myself wrong.

I would never have known that if I hadn't tried.

What good does a pity party do you?  Stop crying about what you can't do and go and discover what you can.

  1. Way to make me feel bad about my comment yesterday.

  2. Ha! There's a big difference between not wanting to run and being cool with that (you), and holding a pity party about how you'd like to run but you just can't because blah blah blah. I ain't never seen you having a pity party, Dan. Not yet!

  3. just thinking - surely one of your blogs about running the marathon would make an interesting 'blog of the week' for Shift.MS? too positive? not enough whining? just me?!

    [train of thought]
speaking of marathons, i had a Topic bar at the weekend - when was the last time you had one of those? retro-tastic.

  4. Ha! As you say, I’m not sure that the possibly-excessive-stoicism of the house style here really fits the tone of the blogs usually picked for that (you excepted, of course!)
I haven’t had a Topic recently, but I do really like a Starbar from time to time. Old time chocolate for the win! (and, coincidentally, there was a pack of “starburst” in my finishers pack. They’ll always be Opal Fruits to me!)
