After a few weeks, I figured that they must not have liked what they saw, so I went on with my life.

In early September, I received an automated email from their application system informing me that it was about to be changed, and they invited me to reapply after 1 October. I checked and the position was still posted, so I figured I'd reapply then.

The third week of September I received a call from the Director of the department, inviting me in for an interview the next day (a Thursday). The interview went well, and on the following Monday I received an email with the offer (although they didn't say how much the pay would be, yet). From there, it was "hurry up and wait."

I'd respond nearly immediately, anywhere from a few minutes after receiving an email to less than one day. They'd take their time and respond 2-4 days later. The initial offer was sent to me on 30 September, and the final offer with rate of pay was sent to me on 15 October.

I gave two weeks notice, took three days off, plus the weekend, and started work on 4 November.

The lack of communication, or delays in communication, was frustrating, but I'm glad I stuck through it, as the wait was well worth it.Danhttp://monogodo.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1750120863647373520.post-30612954077405162902020-01-09T14:24:15.011+00:002020-01-09T14:24:15.011+00:00It's a minefield!
On the working hours point,...It's a minefield!

On the working hours point, when I was salaried I used to do the 50hrs+ a week thing, but since I started contracting it's shifted to 9-5 (8-4 actually), as it's a day rate. I don't get paid more for working more, so I don't do it. Given I don't get sick pay, holiday pay etc I feel just fine about that!Gordonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00858316092785787898noreply@blogger.com
