Look at Webb Pierce 'There Stands The Glass' or Townes Van Zandt 'Poncho and Lefty' or Joni Mitchell's 'You Played Real Good For Free' or Cole Porter 'Don't Fence Me In' or Mike Montgomery 'Your The Hang Nail In My Life' or Michael Murphy 'Geronimo's Cadillac' or Tony Johnson 'Midnight In Memphis' ..... and the list goes on to even include his mother's tunes such as 'Young Man' and 'Heart Break Hotel'- which he does better in all 3 of his versions than Elvis' rendition - it does not seem to matter.
