no, you'll just have to wait....

You'll have to bear with me tonight.  I was hoping to put up another supernaturally themed story -for once not based within my office and not explicitly featuring a vampire or something obvious like that, but - alas - I've run out of time this evening.  This one is loosely based on Franz Kafka's Metamorphosis, the injection I had in my foot last week and a touch of X-Files, smoking man-style conspiracy.  I'm currently 1800 words in and just getting to the good bits.  Rather than force it out just so I can get something up here, I'm going to take a break and come back to it fresh tomorrow evening.

It might still be rubbish, obviously, but I need to at least give it a chance; to let it marinate overnight and see what I can come up with tomorrow.

I'm quite enjoying the discipline of forcing myself to sit down and write something creative every week.  It's far too easy for time to drift by and not actually to knuckle down and get something written.  I think I've broken that loop.  I'm not sure any of it is especially good, but I'm pleased that I'm at least creating something and flexing the creative muscles that I've been allowing to stagnate.  I'm not sure how it's working for you, but I'm having fun.  Not too many "WTF"'s underneath each post, anyway.  Not that I mind them... at least it's provoked a reaction.

As you've probably noticed, I've been riffing a little bit on a theme in my writing up to now, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to be going back to that in the near future.  Tonight, I thought I'd spread my wings a little bit and try something else.  Yes, it's still supernatural, but I can't help what I'm interested in at the minute.  I've been watching the second season of "Grimm" on telly, and I'm pretty sure that I can do better than that.  Perhaps that's arrogant, but I won't know unless I try, right?  Good lord.  Have you read any of the Twilight books?  (actually, I haven't... but you know what I mean, right? RPatz?  Really?  I just don't get it.  Even if I do have a bit of a soft-spot for sulky Kristen Stewart).

Anyway.  As you were.  If all goes well, I'll have something to show you tomorrow.  First line?

"One morning, as Gregory Johnson was waking up from anxious dreams, he discovered that in his bed he had been changed into a monster."

Apologies to Kafka, but that's my jumping off point.
