Crumble, 1990-2006.
She may have been a merciless terroriser of rabbits, but she was always perfectly nice to me. Well, except for those times when she pinged me with a claw just enough for it to really hurt. Or when she grabbed me with her front paws and scrabbled me furiously with her back legs. Or when she stopped licking me just long enough to suddenly bite me....
Well, she was a cat....
She may have been a capricious creature, but I'll miss her. I'll miss her strangely silent miaow and the little chirrupping noise she made when she jumped on the bed.
So sorry to hear ST. Its really difficult to lose a feline buddy. She lived a good, long life though. 16 is a lot of years for a kitty.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts are with you.
words are not really able to express the love between man and cat, nor the loss so keenly felt.
ReplyDeleteSorry to read this ST.
ReplyDeletemy mum and dad broke the news to me this evening - she lived with them, of course. I had just finished my GCSEs when she was a kitten and first joined our household. I took it better than I had thought I might, to be honest. She's been ill for some time with kidney problems. Bless her, but she refused to take her pills without a fight. I think the defiance kept her alive. For at least the last couple of years, she's been allowed to sleep indoors, and she's been a lot friendlier and purrier. She had a beanbag at the top of the stairs (as pictured above) and she would sleep there most of the day. She would make that little chirruping noise as people passed by on the stairs and would roll over for a tickle... but only for so long, and then the claws came out.
ReplyDeleteShe had a good life. I'll miss her, but she did okay. My mum always said she had a soft-spot for me, and I always left the bedroom door open a crack when I was at home. She wasn't allowed on the beds, but dammit, she was allowed on mine.
Thanks for your thoughts though.

Oh, poor you - losing a pet is terrible, especially one that's been in the family a long time. I still well up thinking about when my wee doggy got put down two years back.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that ST, you have my deepest sympathy.
ReplyDelete:( So sorry! Thinking of you and crumble today.
ReplyDeletelove,

ReplyDeleteCrumble sounds like a wonderful kitty who was blessed with lovely household of human servants.
ReplyDeleteAww, ST, my heart goes out to you. Those crazy furballs make such great friends...
ReplyDelete*hugs*
It sounds like she had a good life, and you had a soft spot for her too. Even though her last years were difficult, it's sad that she's gone. I'm sorry you've lost her.
ReplyDeleteRest In Peace Crumble.
ReplyDeleteI'm really sorry about that mate. My cat's 14 and I obviously know that she's not going to be around for ever and I hate that fact. But that's life.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear it, ST.
ReplyDeleteThat was a lovely eulogy. Crumble was obviously a much loved member of the Swiss family. RIP.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about that (and for being a bit late with it, but I've been away). It's difficult to explain the loss of a pet to someone who doesn't have them, but it sounds like there are a lot of pet owners here. I'm certainly glad to get back to my two cats.
ReplyDeleteIf Karma exists, I'm pretty sure that a well-loved cat has to have been Mother Theresa or something in a previous life. I'm sure you made her as happy as she made you, which counts for a lot.
How sad. Sleep well, Crumble.
