“You will never know your limits until you push yourself to them”
There is a very real temptation - not just for people with multiple sclerosis, but for anyone - to define themselves by what they can't do. I know I'm relatively lucky with how MS has affected me so far, but I still assumed I would never be able to run a marathon and that my body would blow up during training.... and I proved myself wrong.
I would never have known that if I hadn't tried.
What good does a pity party do you? Stop crying about what you can't do and go and discover what you can.

Way to make me feel bad about my comment yesterday.
ReplyDelete:-D
Ha! There's a big difference between not wanting to run and being cool with that (you), and holding a pity party about how you'd like to run but you just can't because blah blah blah. I ain't never seen you having a pity party, Dan. Not yet!
ReplyDeletejust thinking - surely one of your blogs about running the marathon would make an interesting 'blog of the week' for Shift.MS? too positive? not enough whining? just me?!
ReplyDelete[train of thought]
speaking of marathons, i had a Topic bar at the weekend - when was the last time you had one of those? retro-tastic.
Ha! As you say, I’m not sure that the possibly-excessive-stoicism of the house style here really fits the tone of the blogs usually picked for that (you excepted, of course!)
ReplyDeleteI haven’t had a Topic recently, but I do really like a Starbar from time to time. Old time chocolate for the win! (and, coincidentally, there was a pack of “starburst” in my finishers pack. They’ll always be Opal Fruits to me!)
